Electric vehicle maintenance
Electric and hybrid vehicles, like other cars, need routine maintenance. This is not only essential for their reliable and safe operation, but also helps prevent costly repairs of the suspension and electronics.
Scheduled maintenance includes:
- checking and adjustment of brake system components;
- identification and replacement of used battery modules at specialised garages;
- lubrication of assemblies;
- monitoring the condition of service fluids;
- maintenance of lighting and signalling devices;
- checking the functionality of the emergency battery disconnect switch, etc.
To ensure flawless operation of your car with an electric motor, you should regularly inspect its parts and replace them as they wear out:
- Brake discs and pads. How quickly these abrade depends on the quality of the material, your driving style, the road surface, and weather conditions.
- Wiper blades. Usually, new components are installed before summer and winter, but in any case at least once a year. Make sure the washer tank is always filled with fluid.
- Cabin filter. It’s recommended to change this every 10−20,000 kilometres. The interval largely depends on your vehicle’s operating conditions.
- Suspension elements: shock absorbers, suspension arms, tie rods and tie rod ends, and so on. These are checked at each routine maintenance and changed when worn or damaged.
